The Letter Z
We had a great Tuesday back in Room 2. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders, having Nutrition, and taking care of our morning activities. Then we finished reading "My 'X, Y, Z' Book" and brainstormed some "Z" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on neat "Z" handwriting and sentences, along with using crayons, glue, and a combination of Cheerios and Froot Loops to make the tactile page "Zeros on 'Z's on a Zero." My groups read Sam and Mat book #5 together. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we went to the Tech Lab. Ms. Castro had the class work on writing color words on a word processing document. The class also used tools to change the color of the text. That was a little tricky, but most students were able to do it. When we got back to Room 2, we learned our new sight words for the week and recited our new poem, "This Little Piggy."
After lunch, we read "Bring on Spring!" and had math. We introduced chapter 10 on position. We reviewed some past concepts and introduced new vocabulary. Since we had a little free time, we read books with a partner. For Star of the Week, we introduced Moses. He shared his cool poster and took questions from the class. To end the day, we had Play Buddies. We met our reading buddies from Room 19 outside on the big yard and played. Then we packed up, passed out homework, and lined up for home. Let's have an awesome week!
Be sure to look over homework packets for the week. I'm asking everyone to sign and return library book permission slips so that we can check out books in April and May. Also, we have a Theater performance in the auditorium this Thursday at 1:45 P.M. It will include three short plays and the songs we performed at the African-American Heritage Assembly in February. We hope you can attend!
