A Day With Mr. Rios

We had an interesting Friday in Room 2. As I told the class yesterday, I had an appointment I had to take care of today, so the class got their first substitute teacher. Mr. Rios (another Mr. R) was in charge for the day. Our day should have followed our regular routine, with Nutrition and morning activities to start. They read a book about seeds, too. At language arts rotations, students sewed a carrot shape and attached their writing from earlier in the week retelling "The Carrot Seed." Mr. Rios' table read Sam and Mat book #4 and made a "What Do Plants Need?" mini-book. The other groups had secret centers.  After recess, we had math where Mr. Rios introduced  chapter 9 on Classifying Objects.

After lunch, we read more about seeds and plants and completed a page labeling four things a plant needs to survive: air, water, sun, and soil. We also wrote some sentences on back. For Star of the Week, Kyle had the class estimate toy cars. The class made guesses between 7 and 99. There were 18 toy cars. Christopher got it exactly! After P.E. on the big yard, we ended the day with a video on rainbows. Then we packed up Friday Folders and went to a short assembly on Dermody Court that was supposed to be a lot of fun.  Then we grabbed our things and lined up for home. I hope that everyone had a good day! Have a great weekend!

Don't forget that Parent/Teacher conferences begin next week. I'll see you in Room 2 at you assigned time. Also, remember that the Walk-A-Thon is Friday, March 11th!
