Color Collages and a Theater Peformance
We had a busy Thursday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning business. Then Moses read one of his favorite books, "The Duckling Gets a Cookie!?" Just before we started work, we found out that Mr. B wasn't at school today, so we switched our plans to include centers. At language arts rotations, students wrote a friendly letter to Moses, our Star of the Week. My groups wrote stories about Spring Break in our kindergarten journals. The other groups had secret centers. While we were at rotations, we had four groups of prospective parents visit Room 2. It sure seemed like a lot of people. I hope that they liked what they saw! After recess, we had math. We worked on the terms "in front of" and behind."
After lunch, we reviewed all of our sight words, recited "This Little Piggy," and sang "Itsy Bitsy Spider." We also had art. We continued our study of color by making color collages. Students picked a color and drew objects that are mostly that color. Then they cut them out and glued them onto a black background. They look nice! We also finished up our ladybug art from yesterday by using a marker to draw a head, six legs, antennae, wings, and dots on the ladybugs. Next, we had some P.E. on the kindergarten yard. To end the day, we went to the auditorium to perform for our parents! Ms. Nichols was our host as the class performed "Little Miss Muffet," "Hey Diddle, Diddle," and "Goldilocks and the Three Bears." We also recited "My People" by Langston Hughes" and sang "This Little Light of Mine." The last two were the poem and song we performed at the African-Anerican Heritage Month assembly in February. We did a great job! Thank you to all of our supportive parents, too! When we got back to the room, we were treated with some donut holes. Yum! Then we packed up, reviewed homework, listened to Moses read another favorite book "The Pigeon Needs a Bath," and lined up fro home.
Don't forget to finish and check over homework packets for tomorrow!
