Penguins

We had a good Friday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting homework and having Nutrition outside. Then we took care of our morning activities and read the book "Penguins." At language arts rotations, students made their own penguin using black, white, and orange construction paper. My groups read "i See a Truck Go" and wrote a friendly letter to Kaia, our Star of the Week. The other groups had their final secret center of this rotation.  After recess, we recited "Simple Simon," did some rhyming and had math. We worked on writing number sentences for 6 and 7.

After lunch, we shared Alexander's 100 Day book and finished our math from the morning. Then we read "Animal Babies ABC" and wrote a sentence about an animal and what its baby is called. For Star of the Week, Kaia had us estimate dried macaroni. There were 99 dried macaroni. Katharine guessed it exactly! At P.E. I tested the last two groups on their jump roping progress. To end the day, we had a Dr. King partner project. Then we packed up, passed out Friday Folders, gave out prizes for 20 super star sticks, and handed our certificates for an all-green week. Have a great weekend!

Don't forget to finish up 100 Day projects!  They are due on Friday, January 30th, although you may bring them in early given that they are neat and complete.
