The Letter B and Zero Hero
We had a very pleasant Monday in Room 2. We began by collecting our Friday Folders and taking care of our morning activities, including talking about Zero Hero. Every tenth day of school, we celebrate by looking for ten "Zero Hero" pictures hidden around the room. If we find all ten, we get a "Zero Hero" treat, which today was a cracker shaped like a zero. We read "My B Book" and came up with words that start with "B." At language arts rotations, students did the tactile page "Beans on Bs on a Balloon." My groups read the book "I" and practiced correctly making the letter "B." The other groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we learned our new poem "Three Men in a Tub" and had math. We used counters to find numbers from one to five.
After lunch, we read "Sea Shapes" and sang "Wake Up Toes." Then we read "When a Line Bends, a Shape Begins" and reviewed our shapes. Then we made some shape puppets by coloring, cutting, and taping our shapes to popsicle sticks. Hopefully, they made it home today! For P.E., we practiced bouncing and catching a ball in groups of four. When we got back to class, we sang "Happy Birthday" to Caleb (who turned five on Sunday), decorated a Zero Hero, and had a little choose time to end the day. Then we cleaned up, packed up, passed out homework folders, and lined up for home. Let's have a great week!
Be sure to check over homework packets tonight. They include an "Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)" form that needs to be signed prior to next Tuesday for your child to use the computer lab at school. Also, remember that we have both Friday, August 29th and Monday, September 1st off from school. So remember to do a little extra homework each night this week so that you will have it finished and ready to turn in on Thursday!
