The First Day of Kindergarten!
Tuesday was the first day of kindergarten! We began the morning in the Third Street auditorium. After some announcements from Dr. Oh, each kindergarten teacher called the names of the students on their roster. I called twenty-five names. We walked to Room 2 where I welcomed everyone to our class. After our parents left, I read the book "Look Out Kindergarten, Here I Come!" Then we colored in a picture of how we felt. We learned a little about our class, explored the room, and got to play with puzzles and blocks before we had snack. Then we went to the kindergarten yard for a well deserved recess. When we got back we read "The First Day of Kindergarten" and worked on matching colors to color words. We had to stop a little early to have lunch.
After lunch and lunch recess, we practiced what will be our morning routine. We updated our calendar, counted how many days we've been in kindergarten, sang the alphabet song, recited our poem of the week, and said the pledge of allegiance. We finished our color work from the morning and looked at books with a friend. Then we took a school tour, stopping at the office, computer lab, cafeteria, library, and the big yard. Since we were already out, we played on the apparatus on the big yard. When we returned to the room, students got to draw something they like. We ended the day by singing and dancing "Wake Up Toes" and reading "Tiptoe Into Kindergarten." I had a good day. I hope that you did too!
