Mother's Day!

We had quite a memorable Friday in Room 2. After collecting our homework, we quickly sped through morning business, and read "Butterfly Spring." At language arts rotations, students made some cool butterfly art by scraping crayons onto wax paper. Then we melted the wax with an iron and attached a butterfly border. We'll hang them on the windows next week. My groups took a writing assessment on saving water. The other groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we finished up our Mother's Day gifts.

After lunch, we packed up our Mother's Day gifts. Then we had Star of the Week. Warner brought in Legos for us to estimate. There were 75. Quinn made the best estimate of 74. Then we did our last practice of the Mother's Day poem. During P.E., we let our butterfly out in the flowers on the kindergarten yard before playing a bit more before our guests began arriving. Students gave their mothers a flower as they arrived. We had to make a quick trip to the 90th anniversary assembly, but when we returned, the class did a wonderful job performing. Then we passed out gifts and enjoyed some refreshments for the remainder of the day. I hope that everyone had an enjoyable time. We hoped to make it a nice day and recognize how wonderful and important our mom are to us. Have a great Mother's Day weekend!
