Stoplight

We had a good Thursday in Room 2! We began by updating our calendar and taking care of our morning activities.  Then we read "Cat's Colors." We followed that by having Language Arts Rotations for the first time. Two groups worked on identifying and matching crayon colors, one group wrote in their kindergarten journals with me, and one group had choose time. Then we switched, so that everyone completed the crayon color page.  When we finished both rotations, we cleaned up, reviewed our work, and went out for snack. After recess, we recited "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" and had math. We introduced our first topic: Number One to Five. We also learned how to play the math games we have in class.

After lunch, we read "The New Bear at School" and had art. We made a stoplight. Students cut out three color circles and  glued them onto a stoplight shape. We'll be working a lot on our fine motor skills during the year to gain strength in our hands. We had P.E. out on the big yard again before decorating our Friday Folders. I started a handprint project, but only got to one group. We'll finish those up tomorrow. Then we packed up, sang "Wake Up Toes" and lined up for home. Don't forget to finish and check over homework packets!  They are due Friday morning.
