Popcorn Party and Katharine's Birthday

We had a pretty eventful Friday in Room 2. We began by collecting homework and taking care of our morning activities. Then we read "What Is a Triangle?" At language arts rotations, students colored in triangles, circles, and squares and made a bouncing snake. My groups read "I Can" and wrote in our kindergarten journals about things we can do. The other groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we recited "Ring Aroung the Rosies" and had math. We practiced counting and writing 4s and 5s.

After lunch, we sang "Wake Up Toes" and read the "Short A" story called "That Cat Max." Then we had a partner project where we matched "short a" words to pictures. It was a little challenging, but we did a pretty good job!  We had time for a short recess on the big yard before we came back to Room 2 for a popcorn party. When we have good behavior, we earn scoops of corn during the week. If we fill up our jar to the top, we earn a popcorn party on Friday. Today was our first party!  We watched "Harold and the Purple Crayon," which we read this week in class, and enjoyed a cup of popcorn. Thne we packed up for home. We ended the day celebrating Katharine's fifth birthday. Her mom and dad brought delicious red velvet cupcakes and drinks for everyone. Finally, we got our things, passed out certificates for an "all-green" week, and lined up for home.

Have a great weekend!
