Self Portraits

Wednesday was our second day of school. We began by doing calendar activities, the alphabet song, the pledge, and by reading the story "Boomer Goes to School." Then we talked about what we hope to do in kindergarten this year. Students copied what they said and drew a picture to go with it. After a little free play, we had some circle time. We went around and introduced ourselves, said our favorite color, and shared when we celebrate our birthday. Next, we went outside to have a healthy snack and some recess time. When we returned, we recited our poem of the week, "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star." Every student will get a turn to say it by themselves this week. Today we took eight volunteers. For math, we identified colors and traced lines connecting matching color pictures.

After lunch, we read "I Like Myself" and made self portraits. We started by drawing and coloring our faces. Then we decorated a shirt design that we like. We took a break out on the big yard next. When we got back, we cut out the two pieces and glued them together to make a cool self portrait. They are now hanging in our room above the windows if you want to come and check them out!  Then we sang and danced "Wake Up Toes" and lined up for home. See you tomorrow!
