The Letter R and Reading Buddies

A quick Tuesday today in Room 2!  Getting back into the groove, we began with our morning business. Then we read "Rosie Rabbit's Radish" and came up with more "R" words. At language arts rotations, we worked on a cut and paste "R" page and tried to write sentences. At my table, we learned how to play BOOM! and had some "R" handwriting practice. The other two groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we went to the the Tech Lab. Mr. Riko had students make a picture on abcya.com and type their name using a capital letter. When we got back, we recited the poem "Jack and Jill."

After lunch, we read a book called "Let's Read About Martin Luther King, Jr." We talked a little about Dr. King and why he's important. Then we colored and cut a matching page to show some of his accomplishments. After a little choose time, we had Star of the Week. We reviewed Iris' poster and then she shared some fun toys. The class especially liked GoGo, her walking dog toy.  To end the day, we went to room 19 for Reading Buddies. We read stories with the fourth graders in Mr. Bassett's class. Then we packed up and headed for home!
