P.E., Library, and More!

A fast Wednesday today in Room 2. We, of course, started with our morning business. Then we read "Seal's Silly Sandwich" and brainstormed some "S" words. At language arts centers, we worked on an "S" phonics page and wrote sentences. At my table, we took the topic 8 math test and worked on "S" handwriting. The other two groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we recited the poem "Simple Simon" and had math. Today we worked on writing number sentences for 4 and 5. We tried to come up with as many different ways to get 4 and 5. We even used cubes to see those ways.

After lunch, we read "The Penguin Who Wanted to Fly" and had mixing with Mr. Duffy's class. My group read "The Ugly Duckling" and discussed the story, read a decodable in groups and sorted animals into different groups: mammal, bird, fish, insect. Tomorrow we will add reptile and amphibian.  When we regrouped, we watched a short movie on penguins. For Star of the Week Jakob shared his cool toys. He had a fire-breathing dragon, a tow truck, and a Batman figure. Then we went out for P.E. with Coach Angel. He had us play "Flag Battles" where two teams (red and yellow) run and try to pull a flag off the other team. It was fun and tiring at the same time!  After that, we went to the library. Mr. K read the class "The Three Little Pigs." When we got back to the room, we packed up, reviewed our homework, and lined up!
