The Letter V
We had a pleasant Monday back in Room 203. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and taking care of our morning activities, which include sorting lunches, the Pledge and BeyeLaws, updating our calendar, the alphabet song, the vowel song, and morning exercises. We read "My 'V' Book" and brainstormed some "V" words. Then we used crayons, glue, and vinyl to make the tactile page "Vinyl on 'V's on a Vest." Next. we focused on "V" handwriting. We carefully formed some "V"s and wrote sentences with "V" words. After snack and recess, we introduced our theme of the week: plants. We talked about kinds of plants, where plants come from, and what plants need. Then we started a seed to plant activity. After that, we went to Art with Ms. Sundquist. She had the class finish their pinch pot glazing and stages. They look cool! Most students will take them home today. Look for them in your child's backpack.
After lunch, we finished our seed to plant projects and learned our new sight words and poem of the week ("There Was a Crooked Man."). We practiced high and low sounds with Mrs. Hansen at Music. For math, we did more with number bonds. We continue to find the connections between numbers. For Star of the Week, we introduced George. He shared his awesome poster and then took questions from the class. To end the day, we packed up, passed out homework folders, awarded prizes for twenty super star sticks (We ran late on Friday), grabbed our Leprechaun Traps, and lined up for home.
Be sure to look over homework. Remember that we have a field trip on Friday, too. Let's have a great week!
