Read Across America!

We had a great day on Thursday in Room 203. It was Read Across America Day (and Dr. Seuss' birthday), so we made sure to read and look at Dr. Seuss books all day. We began our day with our regular morning activities and HWT. We also read my favorite Dr. Seuss book, "Green Eggs and Ham." Next we went to the computer lab to play LexiaCore5 games. When we got back ,we had Writer's Workshop. We talked about adding emotion or feeling to our writing before finishing our stories from yesterday. After snack and recess, we read a Pigeon book for Ellie and had ELA Workshop. My groups wrote a friendly letter to Ellie, our Star of the Week. Students independently colored their pieces for our potato person project. We also visited a secret center.

After lunch, we reviewed sight words, recited "Polly Put the Kettle On," and practiced phonics skills. We even had time to read "Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?" In Music, we read "10 Sly Piranhas" and played along using a xylophone. When we got back to the room, we worked on cutting, pasting, and putting together a Potato Guy or Potato Girl. They look cute! In Spanish, we took out our placemats and worked more with fruits and food. To end the day, we had Star of the Week. Ellie shared some nice pictures with the class. A few students had to finish up their potato project, so we did that, cleaned up, packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.

Be sure to finish and check over homework for Friday! If you have a permission slip for our field trip later this month, please send it in tomorrow, too.
