The Letter P
We had a nice Monday in Room 203. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and taking care of our morning activities, which include the Pledge and BeyeLaws, sorting lunches, calendar, and morning exercises. We read "My 'P' Book" and brainstormed some "P" words before suing crayons, glue, and popcorn to make the tactile page "Popcorn on 'P's on a Pumpkin." They look cool! After Road to Reading, we practiced good handwriting forms to make "P"s and write sentences with "p" words. After snack and recess, we went to Art. Ms. Sundquist had the class work on finishing projects from last week.
After lunch, we learned our new sight words of the week, recited "Little Bo-Peep," and practiced some phonics skills. We had a substitute in Music, so we watched a video. When we returned we had math. We continued our topic of measurement, but moved onto measuring weight. We found different ways to find if objects are lighter or heavier. We used our sight and minds, we used our hands, and we used balance scales. We got a chance to work in groups to weigh objects and see which was heavier using a scale. For Star of the Week, we introduced Ascencion. She shared her cool poster and took questions from the class. To end the day, we went to the Computer Lab and played LexiaCore5 games. Then we packed up, got our homework folders, and lined up for home.
Be sure to look at homework folders. A "Homework for Parents" survey is included with out regular homework. Please fill it out and return it with your child's homework on Friday. Don't forget that 100 Day Books are due next Tuesday, February 7th. Let's have a great week!
