Short O

We had a pretty great Monday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and taking care of our morning activities. After starting our tactile page for the letter "O," we had Road to Reading. When we got back, we finished using crayons, glue, and Cheerios to make "Cheerios on 'O's on an Octopus." Next we read "My 'O' Book" and brainstormed some words that have the "short o" sound, as in octopus and on. We worked on neat letter form and made "o"s and wrote sentences using an "o" word.  After snack and indoor recess, we went to art. The class worked on tracings with the substitute.

After lunch, we learned our new sight words, recited our new poem ("Old Woman in a Shoe"), and had some phonics skills practice. In Music, the class learned a new polka dance with Mrs. Hansen. For math, we reviewed shapes, numbers, and measurement before comparing objects. We drew two lengths of objects and determined which one was longer and which one was shorter. We also used cubes to measure and compare items in our room. For Star of the Week, we introduced Addison. She shared her awesome poster and took questions from the class. To end the day, we went to the Computer Lab and played LexiaCore5 games. Then we packed up, reviewed our new homework, passed out prizes for twenty super star sticks (we ran out of time on Friday), and lined up for home.

Let's have a great week!

Be sure to check over homework for the week. Remember that homework is due on THURSDAY because students do not have school on Friday for the Teacher Institute Day.
