Chinese New Year
We has a fun Thursday in Room 203. We began the day by collecting homework and taking care of our morning activities. We also read "Penguin in Love" and had HWT. The Computer Lab was busy with testing, so we read a book about Chinese New Year celebrations. We heard the original fable, learned what twelve animals are represented, and what year 2017 is (rooster). Then we colored, cut, glued, and added sticks to make a moveable dragon. They look cool! After snack and recess, we had ELA Workshop. As a makeup, students got to use iPads and play Lexia games at their independent tables. My groups wrote a friendly letter to Addison, our Star of the Week. And we also visited our last secret center of this rotation.
After lunch, we reviewed sight words, "Old Woman in a Shoe," and some phonics skills. Miles brought in his 100 Day book, so he shared his project with the class. DOn't forget that they are due on Tuesday, February 7th! At Music, we had substitute. When we got back, we got to have a party since we had our tenth "all-green" day. We munched on goldfish crackers and watched a PBS special on penguins. At Spanish we learned more about family with Sra. Colmenero. To end the day, we had Star of the Week. Addison shared some pictures and told a joke to the class. Then we read our letters to her. She did a great job as our first Star of the Week! I think everyone will be looking forward to their turn now! Then we packed up Friday Folders, passed out prizes for twenty super star sticks, and lined up for home.
Remember that students do not have school tomorrow because of the Teacher's Institute. Have a fantastic three-day weekend!
