The Letter N
We had a busy Tuesday back in Room 203. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and library books, plus taking care of our morning activities. We also practiced our three songs for Thursday. After Road to Reading, we read "My 'N' Book" and brainstormed words that begin with "N." We also used crayons, glue, and noodles to make the tactile page "Noodles on 'N's on a Nut." They look nice! After snack and recess, we read "Winter is Here!" and had ELA Workshop. Students worked on "N" handwriting and sentences, while I pulled groups to neatly copy our winter journal writing to display in the hall. We also started new secret centers today. They include: Drawing with oil pastels at the art center, LexiaCore5 games at the computer center, addition at the math center, using a cash register at the mystery center, writing your favorite animal at the reading & writing center, and coloring a leaf at the science center.
After lunch, we learned our new sight words and poem of the week, "Little Nut Tree." We also had Star of the Week. This week, Mr. Ricker will share things about himself. Today I shared a poster with my name, birthday, and some favorite things. I also took questions from the class. Next, we had our Tuesday specials. We went to the library to listen to a story and check out a book with Mr. Withers. We learned more about "mi familia" in Spanish with Sra. Colmenero. And we participated in the Heartland Adventure" with Mr. Simatic. To end the day, we packed up, reviewed our new homework and 100 Day Book project, practiced our three songs, and passed out prizes for staying green all of December. Keep it up!
Be sure to check homework folders this week. Directions and a booklet are included for our third at-home project: The 100 Day Book. See me if you have questions, want to see a sample, or need some supplies to finish the project.
Let have a great week!
