More with P
We had a busy Tuesday in Room 203. We began the day with our morning activities. Then we read "The Pig's Picnic" and brainstormed more words that start with "p." After HWT and Road to Reading, we had Writer's Workshop. We shared stories with a partner, and then used our mental and drawn pictures to make our stories better. We tried to add a detail that was interesting, exciting, or funny to our true story. After snack and recess, we read "P is for Panda" and had ELA Workshop. Students worked on identifying "P" pictures. My groups read Sam and Mat book #1 and checked sight word fluency. We also started a new rotation of secret centers. They include: Drawing pictures with colored pencils at the Art Center, playing LexiaCore5 games at the Computer Center, measuring objects using cubes, a ruler, or a scale at the Math Center, investigating a rekenrek at the Mystery Center, writing something we see in our neighborhood at the Reading & Writing Center, and examining leaves with a magnifying glass at the Science Center.
After lunch, we reviewed sight words, recited "Little Bo-Peep," and had phonics practice. We also shared Addison's, Charlotte's, and Billie's 100 Day Books. They did a great job! Don't forget that projects are due next Tuesday, February 7th. Then we read a story and checked out a book in the library with Mr. Withers. In Spanish we learned about fruit with Sra. Colmenero. Finally, we played basketball with Mr. Simatic in P.E. To end the day, we had Star of the Week. Ascencion shared some toys with the class. She had newspaper that had a story with her and her family in it, a recorder, a colorful headband, and an Elsa doll. The class liked them all! Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
