Kwanzaa and Hanukkah Traditions
We had a great Thursday in Room 203. We began the day with our morning activities and HWT. Then we went to the Computer Lab to play LexiaCore5 learning games. When we got back, we read "Seven Candles for Kwanzaa" and learned about the holiday. We made a Kwanzaa kinara using crayons, scissors, and glue, too. After indoor snack and recess, we read "K is for Kwanzaa" and had ELA Workshop. Students found a pattern in a Kwanzaa Festival and glued what would come next at the independent tables. My groups talked about holiday celebrations and looked at an issue of Time for Kids. Everyone visited a secret center, as well.
After lunch, we shared our last five Family Holiday Traditions. They were excellent! At Music,we did a few dances with Mrs. Hansen, including a Hanukkah Dance. Back in Room 203, we packed up all of the little gifts and projects we made into our snowman bags. They go home today. Enjoy! In Spanish, we learned more about winter with Sra. Colmenero. To end the day, we played some dreidel games with Miles' mom and dad. They showed the class how to play the dreidel game (we also got a little gelt!) before Miles' dad read a story about Hanukkah. Then we packed up and lined up for home.
There wasn't any homework assigned this week, but please bring in green homework folders tomorrow. Thanks!
