Food

We had a productive Thursday in Room 203. We began the day with our morning activities and by sharing some more Ethnicity Doll projects. Then we went to the Computer Lab to work on LexiaCore5 skills, as we do every Thursday morning. When we got back to the room, we had Writer's Workshop. We continued to work on yesterday's true stories by adding more words, pictures, and speech bubbles to our pages. We are really getting it! After snack and recess, we discussed our theme of food. We reviewed our poems and talked about the food groups. We looked at "MyPlate," the government suggested serving plate and talked about healthy foods. During ELA Workshop, students colored in a "MyPlate" showing fruits, vegetables, grains, proteins, and dairy. We will dig deeper next week into more examples of healthy eating. My groups wrote in their kindergarten journals about foods they like to eat.

After lunch, we recited "Georgie Porgie" and shared our last two Ethnicity Dolls. Great job everyone! They look awesome!  We will display them in the hall now and later in the classroom. At Music, Mrs. Hansen taught the class a fun new dance. We found out that Spanish was canceled, so we read "Apple Farmer Annie, shared Mr. Ricker's Ethnicity Doll, and had a bonus afternoon recess. To end the day, we had math. We worked on counting from 10 to 1 and 1 to 10 using Number Stairs, and also practicing counting one less. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and passed out certificates for staying green for all of November.

Be sure to finish and check over your homework packet for Friday!
