Gingerbread Girls and Boys
We had a nice Thursday in Room 203. Mr. Ricker was in a meeting all morning, so our substitute Mrs. Thomas picked up the class and took care of all our morning activities. After HWT, the class went to the Computer Lab to work on LexiaCore5 games. For Writer's Workshop, we looked at word walls and used those words to help write sentences. After snack and indoor recess, we read "The Gingerbread Girl" and had ELA Workshop. The class decorated their own gingerbread girl (or boy) with Mrs. Thomas. Students also independently sequenced "The Gingerbread Man" story and tried to write a sentence about it. We also visited secret centers.
After lunch, Mr. Ricker was back. We looked at some Reading poems and sang some holiday songs. In Music, the class watched "The Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy" with Mrs. Hansen. In math, we reviewed solid shapes and tried to find and identify cubes, cones, cylinders, and spheres. In Music, we studied the seasons with Sra. Colmenero. To end the day, we finished up some loose ends and had some free choice time. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, counted super star sticks, and lined up for home.
Be sure to complete the Family Winter Traditions homework for tomorrow. However, if it's not neat and ready to share, please finish it over the weekend and bring it in on Monday. I'd rather have it late than messy or incomplete. Thanks!
