Penguins
We had a great Thursday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning activities. Then we read two books about penguins. At language arts rotations, students made their own penguins using construction paper, paste, and crayons. They look cute! My groups read "Go, Go, Go" and wrote a friendly letter to Dominic, our Star of the Week. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We worked on using the minus sign and writing subtraction sentences.
After lunch, we recited "Jack Be Nimble," went over word sounds, and reviewed sight words. Then we had science. We're talking about animals. We discussed different animal groups before focusing on birds and fish. Students wrote a sentence and illustrated a picture with birds and fish. For Star of the Week, Dominic shared some cool family photos. We had some free recess on the kindergarten for P.E. To end the day, we read "Let's Learn About Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr." and discussed his life. Then students colored, cut, and pasted pictures of some of his accomplishments. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
Don't forget to finish and check over homework packets for tomorrow!
