Bears, Bears, Everywhere

We had a fun Friday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting homework and having Nutrition. After taking care of our morning business, we read "My Friend Bear." At language arts rotations, students made their own bears that move using paper, glue, a hole puncher, and brass fasteners. They're cool!  My groups started our "Bears, Bears, Everywhere" book where we write rhyming sentences. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We working on making the numbers 11 to 15. We've done composing and decomposing numbers before, so I anticipate a quick chapter.

After lunch, we edited two sentences, recited "Simple Simon," reviewed sight words, and worked on sounding out cvc (consonant-vowel-consonant) words. Then we worked on making "Valentine Guy" or "Valentine Girl" by coloring, cutting, folding, and gluing paper.  They are already on display for Valentine's Day. For Star of the Week, Jack had us estimate ninjas. The class made guesses between 18 and 99. There were 35 ninjas. Lois made the best estimate of 36. After P.E. on the kindergarten yard, we ended the day with a popcorn party. The class munched on a cup of popcorn while we watched "The Magic School Bus: Cold Feet," which explores warm and cold blooded animals. Then we packed up our Friday Folders, awarded prizes for twenty super star sticks, and gave out certificates for an all-green week. Have a great weekend!
