Penguin Pictures
We had a nice Friday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting homework and with Nutrition. After our morning activities, we read a book that Ethan brought in called "I'd Really Like to Eat a Child" and "Flip and Flop." At language arts rotations, students made penguin pictures using pencil, oil pastels, and watercolors. My groups read "It Can Go, Go, Go" and wrote a friendly letter to Ethan, our Star of the Week. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we visited Room 21. We sang several songs and played with Ms. Yuki's class.
After lunch, we reviewed sight words, recited "Jack and Jill," read "Tackylocks and the Three Bears," and had a music and movement activity. We also had science. We looked at two more animal groups: reptiles and mammals. After discussing traits and examples of each, students copied two sentences and made pictures illustrating each animal group. For Star of the Week, Ethan had the class estimate marbles. The class made guesses between 21 and 99. There were 59 marbles. Kaia got it exactly! After P.E. on the kindergarten yard, we ended the day with a partner project. Students did some bear subtraction with a partner. Then we packed up, passed out Friday Folders, awarded prizes for twenty super star sticks, and gave out certificates for an all-green week. Have a great weekend!
