The Letter M

We had a short, but productive Monday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and having Nutrition inside because it was so windy. Then we took care of our morning activities, including calendar, our ABCs, our new poem, the phonetic alphabet, the Pledge, and some morning exercises. Then we read "My 'M' Book" and brainstormed some "M" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on neat "M" handwriting and the tactile page "Marshmallows on 'M's on a Mitten." My groups wrote what they'd do if they were a turkey and made a Thanksgiving mini-book.  The other groups had secret centers.  After recess, we recited our new poem, "Little Miss Muffet," and had math. We reviewed composing and decomposing numbers to 10.

After lunch, we read "Squanto" and learned about this important Native American from history. Then we made totem poles. We colored and decorated the animal pictures and taped it to a paper towel roll before gluing on wings and a beak. They look cool!  Our thanks to Mr. Abrams for helping out!  Then we introduced Daniel as our "Star of the Week." He shared his awesome, Batman-inspired poster and took questions from the class. Then we passed out homework, packed up, and lined up for home. Let's have a great week!

Be sure to look over homework packets for the week.  Because it is Parent-Teacher Conference Week, we have early dismissal on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Also, both November and December book orders go home this week. Return them by Friday if you're interested. You may also order online, just be sure to use our class code. All books will be delivered prior to Winter Break.
