Leaves! Leaves! Leaves!
We had a good Thursday in Room 2. We started the day with Nutrition and our morning activities. We also welcomed a new student, David, today. That means we currently have 24 students (14 boys, 10 girls) in our class. Next, we read "The Biggest Leaf Pile." At language arts rotations, students made leaf tracings using colored chalk and tracers. They look cool! My groups wrote a friendly letter to Charis, our Star of the Week. The other groups had their final secret center of this rotation. After recess, we had math. We worked on making 8 and 9 using counters. Then we found different ways to make those numbers.
After lunch, we recited "Georgie Porgie," reviewed sounds and letters, and worked on counting syllables in words. We also read "The Falling Leaves and the Scarecrow." At art, we learned about free form shapes. For our project, we drew free form leaves. Then we traced them with oil pastels and colored them in with watercolors. For Star of the Week, Charis shared some nice pictures with the class. To end the day, we had P.E. on the kindergarten yard. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, read "Autumn's First Leaf," and lined up for home.
Be sure to finish and check over homework packets for tomorrow. Plus, be sure to include your "Homework for Parents," too!
