Leaf Prints

We had a nice Friday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting homework and having Nutrition outside. After our morning activities, we read "When Autumn Comes." At language arts rotations, students made leaf prints. They used tempera to paint real leaves and then press and hold them on paper to make a print. It was both messy and fun!  Special thanks to Stella's mom and Victoire's mom for helping out today!  My groups read "I Like" and wrote a friendly letter to Charis, our Star of the Week. The other groups had their first secret center of this rotation. They include: Decorating a turkey with markers at the Art Center, playing games at PlanetBravo.com at the Computer Center, hearing "Clifford's Thanksgiving Visit" by Norman Bridwell at the Listening Center, addition practice at the Math Center, and using blocks, cubes, and more at the Play Center. After recess, we had math. We worked on taking apart the numbers 8 and 9. It was pretty easy!

After lunch, we had an assembly. A group called "Safe Moves" made a presentation to the kindergarten classes about being safe in the neighborhood. Charis even got to participate. When we got back to Room 2, we had  Star of the Week. Charis showed the class how to make origami figures. She also had the class estimate vitamins. The class made guesses between 18 and 99. There were 49 vitamins. Sam got it exactly!  At P.E., we played on the kindergarten yard with balls and jump ropes. To end the day, we read the book "We're Going on a Leaf Hunt," packed up Friday Folders, passed out prizes for twenty super star sticks, and played "The Freeze." We also awarded certificates for an all-green week. Have a great weekend!

Looking ahead, don't forget that we do not have school next Wednesday, November 11 for Veterans' Day. Also, the due date for PTA Reflections entries is getting close. See me if you need a form.
