The Letter L
We had a nice Monday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and having Nutrition outside. It's starting to get a little chilly, so be sure that your child had a sweater or jacket to keep them warm. Next, we took care of our morning activities and read "My 'L' Book." Then we came up with several words that begin with the "L" sound. At language arts rotations, students worked on "L" handwriting, plus making the tactile page "Licorice on 'L's on a Lollipop." My groups worked on a Thanksgiving turkey project where we write three things we are thankful for on the feathers. They look cute! The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We worked on making the number 10 with counters.
After recess, we recited our new poem "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and had art with Ms. Maria. She had students continue work on our secret holiday projects. They also got free draw with markers. For Star of the Week, we introduced Christopher. He shared his cool poster and took questions and comments from the class. P.E. on the kindergarten yard included balls and jump ropes. Our last activity of the day was to see if students could write all of the numbers from 1 to 100. Several could, but it was hard for some in the fifteen minute time limit. We will try again later in the year to see if we can improve. Then we packed up and reviewed homework. To end the day, we celebrated Kyle's birthday! His mom and dad generously brought plenty of pizza, juice, and cupcakes for the class to enjoy! Then we got our things and lined up for home. Let's have a great week!
Be sure to look over the homework packet for the week. First, note that we do not have school this Wednesday, November 11 for Veterans' Day. Next, I've added a sight words activity as part of our weekly Monday homework. See me if you have any questions about it. Lastly, our second at-home project, "The Ethnicity Doll," goes home today. Instructions, writing paper, and a doll cut-out shape are included in the homework. Projects aren't due until Tuesday, December 8, but feel free to take advantage of the day off (and Thanksgiving Break) to work on projects. See me if you need to see a sample.
