Color and Feeling
We had an arty Thursday in Room 2. We began our day with Nutriton and our morning activities. Then we read two chapters from one of Alexander's favorite books called "The Fire Cat." At language arts rotations, students wrote a friendly letter to Alexander, our Star of the Week. My table read "Sad Hen" and worked on a secret Mother's Day art project. The other groups had their last secret center of this rotation. After recess, we reviewed our sight words, recited "Hot Cross Buns," and had math. We worked with a partner to solve problems using objects. Specifically, we used shape blocks to find identical shapes.
After lunch, we finished "The Fire Cat" and had art. We continued the unit on color by looking at color and feelings. We decided that hotter, bright colors make you feel happy, while cooler, dull colors are sadder or scarier. Then we drew pictures with some amazing creatures and colored them in using bright or dull colored oil pastels. For Star of the Week, Alexander showed us sime nice family pictures. At P.E., we held two kicking relays and had some recess. To end the day, we used bright or dull watercolors to paint in the background of our picture. Then we packed up, had Chloe share a book, and lined up for home.
Don't forget to finish and check over homework packets for tomorrow!
