The Letter Z
We had a nice Monday back in Room 2. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and having Nutrition outside. After morning activities, we read "My 'X, Y, Z' Book" and brainstormed some "Z" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on neat "Z" handwriting and using crayons, glue, and Cheerios to make the tactile page "Zeroes on 'Z's on a Zero." My groups wrote about teeth in their kindergarten journals. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we practiced sight words, recited our new poem "This Little Piggy," and had math. We reviewed Topic 11 on Parts of Numbers 11-19. We also introduced Topic 12: Measurement, which we will start tomorrow.
After lunch, we edited two sentences together. Then we read "Clever Tom and the Leprechaun" and had art. We decorated a hat, eyes, a mouth, hands, and feet for Potato Guy or Potato Girl. Then we introduced Caleb as our new Star of the Week. He shared his cool poster and took questions and comments from the class. For P.E., we used hula hoops and frisbees on the kindergarten yard. We ended the day by putting together our Potato Girls and Potato Guys. We also had Aaron, Sophia, and Nathan share some books from home. Then we passed out homework folders and lined up for home. Let's have a great week!
Be sure to look over homework packets for the week. Parents, be sure to be on time for your P/T conferences this week. Let me know if you'll be late or need to reschedule!
