More With Z, Tech Lab, and "Writing Buddies"
We had a quick Tuesday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning business. Then we read "Zack the Lazy Zebra" and came up with some more "Z" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on "z" phonics and sentences. My groups took the Topic 11 math test and wrote about teeth in our kindergarten journals. The other groups had their last secret center of this rotation. After recess, we had Tech Lab. Mr. Scott had the class work on typing letters on the keyboard and using the "caps lock" button to make capital letters. When we got back to Room 2, we practiced sight words, recited "This Little Piggy," read "A Rainy Day," talked about weather, and sounded out words.
After lunch, Jacob and Kayla read us a story before we had math. In math, we learned about different ways to measure: by length (with cubes or a ruler), by weight (with a scale or balance), or by capacity (by filling with solids or liquids). Then we looked at objects and decided whether or not each could be measured in those three ways. For Star of the Week, Caleb shared some cool toys. He brought in a blue Power Ranger, a Spider-Man that shoots a web and talks, and a Transformer. To end the day, we had "Writing Buddies." We wrote stories with our buddies from Room 19 and illustrated them when we were done. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home!
