The "Th" Digraph and Plants
We had a fun April Fool's Day in Room 2. We started by collecting Friday Folders, finding our new carpet squares, and taking care of morning business, Then we read the first two chapters of "April Fools." At language arts rotations, students worked on "th" handwriting and the tactile page "Thread on th on a thumb." My groups worked on the seeing and hearing pages in "My Sense Book." The other two groups finished their last secret center. After snack and recess, we had Tech Lab. Mr. Riko had the class use the painting program at abcya.com to draw and label the parts of a plant. When we got back to class, we learned our new poem "Bedtime" and did some rhyming.
After lunch, we finished the last two chapters of "April Fools" and discussed appropriate pranks for the day. Our new theme in the California Treasures language arts program is Plants so we completed a worksheet by labeling the parts of a plant and coloring it in. It looked strangely similar to the one we did in Tech Lab. We had Star of the Week next. Ryker shared his poster and took questions from the class. We were supposed to have Reading Buddies, but Mr. Basset had to cancel, so we went out for a quick P.E. When we got back, three students shared their Science Fair projects: Katie, Jakob, and Finn. They all did a fantastic job! Anyone else with a project is welcome to bring it in by Thursday. Then we packed up our things, passed out homework folders, and lined up for home. Let's have a great week!
