Seed Art
Things got back to normal on Wednesday in Room 2. We began with our morning business and read the book "Flowers." At language arts rotations, students did the second part of our seed art project. We had glued some seeds on a paper on Monday. Today we drew the roots going down from the seed and stems, leaves, and flowers going up. We also traced the flowers and used watercolors to paint the soil. My groups read "Sam and Mat" book 11 and did some handwriting and sentences. The other groups finished their last secret center. After snack and recess, we recited "Rock-a-bye Baby" and had math. We looked at solid shapes and tried to draw a sphere, cube, cylinder, and cone. We also tried to find and identify these solid figures.
After lunch, we practiced some sight words and read a Mother's Day poem. Then we had language mixing with Mr. Duffy's class. My group sequenced the life cycle of a plant. Tomorrow we will write about it. For Star of the Week Steve read us his favorite book, "Curious George Builds and Igloo." He did an amazing job! Then we had P.E. Coach Angel had the class play hockey. We ended the day in the library. Mr. K read us "Always" and "At Evening " from "Grasshopper on the Road." Then we packed up our things and lined up for home!
