Popcorn Party!

We had a busy and productive Friday in room 2. We had centers in the morning, creating a "bouncing snake," writing in our journals, and finding our independent secret centers. After practicing our letters and letter sounds, we has snack and recess on the kindergarten yard. In math, we used unifix cubes to count numbers to five. After lunch, we continued our study of shapes by coloring, cutting, and taping some shape puppets. We finished up our week of hula hooping in P.E. Then, on our way back to room 2, there was a fire drill. We had to head back out to the big yard to check in and for some announcements by our principal, Dr. Suzie Oh. Then we ended the day with the best part!

We spend the week working on good listening and teamwork. I (Mr. Ricker) like to reward the class when we do things right. For example, freezing and  listening to directions, lining up single file, cleaning up our toys and supplies, sitting "criss-cross-apple-sauce," and generally being kind and helpful to the teacher and friends. I reward us with a scoop of unpopped popcorn. When we reach the top of my container, we earn a movie and cup of popcorn on Friday afternoon. It's not easy, so it's a good week when we can do it. The students tried very hard and we got our party today. We watched "Harold and the Purple Crayon," since we had read the book earlier in the week. It was a big hit. Have a great weekend.  We'll see you on Monday!
