The Life Cycle of a Butterfly
We had a good Tuesday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and a quick version of our morning activities. Then we read some "Th" riddles and came up with more "Th" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on "th" phonics and sentences. My groups read about different kinds of insects and Sam and Mat book #8. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we walked all the way to Room 36 for Tech Lab. They will be having testing in grades 3-5 over the next few weeks, so we have to move. Ms. Castro brought a class set of Chromebooks for us to use. The class learned how to use a laptop and got a chance to play some Earth Day-inspired games: "Michael, Michael, Go Recycle" and "Recycle Roundup." Both are available at PlanetBravo.com/thirdstreet/. When we got back to Room 2, we reviewed our sight words and recited "Bedtime."
After lunch, Miss Rosie read us "From Caterpillar to Butterfly." Then we finished up our "Life Cycle of a Butterfly" art projects. We traced the four stages, decorated the background, cut and pasted some leaves around the edges, and glued on an egg, larva, pupa, and butterfly using corn and various pastas. They look awesome! For Star of the Week, Pierra shared some of her favorite toys, including a Hello Kitty plush, a kitten that walks, lizard goggles, a Beanie Boo kitten named Pepper, and a Shrek memory game. The class liked them all. After P.E. on the kindergarten yard, we ended the day with Reading Buddies. We look at some books with our friends from Room 19. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
