More With Shapes
We had a busy Thursday in Room 2. We began our day inside again with Nutrition. It wasn't raining, but is was wet enough to keep us from the tables outside. After morning activities, we read "O is for Owl" together. At language arts rotations, we worked on "short o" phonics and sentences. My groups read "I Like Sam" and wrote a letter to Leland, our Star of the Week. The other groups had their last secret center of this rotation. After recess outside (yay!), we recited "Old Woman in a Shoe," reviewed letter sounds, and had math. We used pictures to help us solve addition problems.
After lunch, we shared Lila's Ethnicity Doll and practiced our holiday songs. For art, we learned more about shapes. We reviewed geometric shapes and free form shapes. Then we made a picture by drawing a rectangle with geometric shapes in it, and free form shapes outside of it. We used different colored oil pastels to outline and color each shape. Finally, we used watercolors to fill in both backgrounds. They look great! Next, Leland shared some nice family photographs during Star of the Week. We went out to the big yard for a quick P.E. before finishing our art projects to end the day. Then we packed up and lined up for home. Don't forget to finish and check over homework packets for tomorrow!
