Ethnicity Dolls
We had a busy Tuesday in Room 2. We began the day collecting Ethnicity Dolls and by having Nutrition. The Ethnicity Dolls look great, by the way. Be sure to stop by later in the week to see them all in person! After morning activities, we read "The Pig's Picnic" and came up with more "p" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on identifying "p" words and writing "p" sentences. My groups took the Topic 7 math test and worked on a secret project. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we went to the Tech Lab. Since it's Computer Science Week, Mr. Scott had the class write code in the form of quick modules at studio.code. It was pretty cool! When we got back to the room, we recited "Little Bo-Peep," reviewed sight words, practiced sounding out words, and tried to read nonsense words using those skills. We also shared Ethan's Ethnicity Doll.
After lunch, we read "Christmas Mice" and finished up Christmas Tree Guy (and Girl). Mr. A stopped by to work on self portraits for our class t-shirts, too. For Star of the Week, Kayla shared some fun toys: "Heart" the polar bear from Sea World, a Rush Hour, Jr. game, and an Elsa doll from "Frozen." The class liked them a lot! To end the day, we had Reading Buddies. Mr. Bassett's fourth and fifth graders read stories with us. Then we packed up, got the California palm tree art projects that we did with Ms. Maria, and lined up for home!
If your child didn't get a chance to present their Ethnicity Dolls today, they will get an opportunity tomorrow and Thursday, if necessary.
