Fun Friday!

A fast and fun Friday today in Room 2.  After collecting homework (and some great-looking 100 Day books!), we made a quick run through our morning business. Then I read a book on the Chinese New Year that tells the origin of each of the animals that represents a year. At language arts rotations, we made a Chinese lion (which looks a little like a dragon) that moves. My table read "Tam Can See" and wrote sentences telling what we would do with 100 dollars. The other groups began our new secret centers.  After a quick snack and recess, we went to the auditorium for another visit from the Star Eco-Station!  Teacher Anna showed the class a boa python, a chinchilla, and a black throated monitor lizard. Students got to learn about each animal and pet them if they wanted.  Anna even brought a leash to "walk" the monitor lizard!

After lunch, we shared 100 Day projects before having art with Ms. Maria and Miss Karla. Students made a three-dimensional project related to artist Nancy Monk, which they brought home today. We started Star of the Week, but were interrupted by a fire alarm. When we went out to the yard, they started an assembly to reward children that participated in the PTA Reflections contest. Four of our students  were recognized: Emerson, Abbie, Finn, and Ryker. When we got back to the room, we finished Joanna's estimation. There were 34 chocolates. Luke made the best guess of 36. Then we packed up our Friday Folders, handed out prizes for 20 super star sticks and an all-green week, and  read Joanna's favorite book "12 Dancing Princesses."  Have a great weekend!
