Another Visit From the Eco-Station!

We had another fun Friday in Room 2!  We started with a fast version of our morning business. Then we read "Tacky the Penguin" to help us during rotations. During language arts rotations, we wrote about Tacky and then painted him a brightly colored shirt with watercolors. At my table, we finished writing letters to Jakob and read "I See Sam."  The other two groups had secret centers. After an early snack and recess, we went to the auditorium for another visit from the Star Eco-Station! Teacher Anna brought three animals to share with our class: a rosie boa, a hedgehog, and a red tegu. Several students got to "wear" the boa around their necks. The hedgehog was shy, but still fun to hold. And the tegu was very imposing as it twisted around on the ground. You could tell that it was related to the komodo dragon. The best part was that everyone learned a lot and had a chance to pet all three animals!  We look forward to their visit again next week.

After lunch, we read Jakob's book "Verdi" and had art. Ms. Maria and Miss Karla had students make a Dr. King themed project by decorating hearts with positive imagery. When we finished, we had Star of the Week. Jakob had the class estimate cotton balls. There were 50. Steve guessed it exactly!  Then we went out for P.E. on the kindergarten yard. When we came in, we recited "Simple Simon" and watched a movie on amazing animals. Then we packed up our backpacks and gave out awards for 20 super star sticks and an all-green week before lining up for home.  Have a great weekend!

Don't forget to keep working on those 100 Day books. They're due next Friday, January 31st!
