Holiday Party
We had a short and fun day in Room 2 on Friday. After collecting homework and going through our morning business, we read "Careful, Santa." Because we wrapped up our last secret centers on Thursday and had a short day Friday, we worked whole group instead. We started with some subtraction practice, which some students zipped through very quickly. Then Mr. A read a "Pete the Cat" book to the classes delight before working on a "Santa Claus, Santa Claus, What Do You See" booklet. That got us to snack and recess. After that, we read "Get Well, Santa" and had Star of the Week. Finn had us estimate pasta pieces. There were 59. Mia made the best guess of 56 pasta pieces. We read our letters to Finn and then packed up our Friday Folders for home.
Our parents began to arrive and were about ready for our party, so we headed outside to eat. There was baked ziti, fried chicken, pizza (which came a little later), fruit, cheese, drinks, and more. After eating, we headed inside. Students found a starred piece of paper for a prize. Then we had two crafts. On one, we decorated a gift bag, and on the other, we used markers to decorate an ornament. then we all got together and had a holiday freeze dance on the carpet. The students got very excited during that! We headed back out for Quinn's birthday and some treats. The class got to play on the yard after eating, too. Finally, we came in and got a present from Mr. Ricker and a goody bag and headed for home.
I'd like to thank Abbie's mom, Heather, for planning our great holiday party! Also, thank you to anyone that donated items and/or came to the party to help out. We appreciate it! Finally, thank you for all of the generous gifts. It's nice to have such a supportive group of parents this year.
Have a happy and healthy Winter Break! Try to read, write, and practice some math facts over the vacation so we don't forget what we've learned so far. See you on Monday, January 13, 2014!
