The Letter M and Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher Conference week is off to a good start in Room 2! All our days are 12:35 P.M. early dismissals, so we have some quick days ahead of us. We began today reading "My M Book" and brainstorming "m" words. Then we went right into language arts rotations. Students read the pre-decodable book "I Like" and then made the tactile page "Marshmallows on Ms on a Mitten." My groups took the math topic 6 test and worked on "M" handwriting. Other groups had secret centers.

After snack (where we each got one marshmallow) and recess, we went to the Tech Lab. Mr. Riko had the class use Tux Paint to create a pilgrim picture. When we got back to the room, we recited our new poem of the week, "Little Miss Muffet" and did some rhyming.

Lunch is shortened because of the shorter day, so we came back to the room after eating. We watched a video on bats. We will alternate days on the kindergarten yard with the other classes at recess this week. Then we introduced math Topic 7 on Exploring Addition. To end the day, we had Star of the Week. Our new Star of the Week is Ava. She shared her very nice poster with the class and then took questions and comments. Then we passed out homework packets and lined up for home!
