Native American Necklaces

Our week continues to fly by here in Room 2. We began with our typical morning routine. I read "Brother Eagle, Sister Sky," a message from Native American Chief Seattle about cherishing everything on the Earth.  For rotations, students got to create their own necklace using dyed salad macaroni. They made a pattern using different colors. Hopefully, it made it home in tact!  At my table, we read "I Like" and wrote a letter to Ava, our Star of the Week.  Other groups finished their last secret center.

After snack and recess, we recited "Little Miss Muffet" and had math. We are introducing addition in this chapter. We made up some stories about joining, and added numbers from 1 to 5. After lunch, we had Star of the Week. Ava shared some nice (and one silly) photographs.  We did the "Turkey Named Burt" dance, then we packed up our backpacks and necklaces and headed for home!

Don't forget to finish up homework packets for tomorrow. Also, bring in any book orders you may have. You may also order online through the weekend. Thanks!
