Color Wheels

We started a new unit on Color in our SRA Art Connections Big Book last Thursday.  We began the unit by discussing primary colors (red, yellow, blue). Then we talked about secondary colors (green, orange, purple), which are what you get when you mix the primary colors. We extended the lesson by introducing tertiary colors. These are the colors you get when you mix primary AND secondary colors, like yellow-orange and red-violet. Then we used a divided paper plate and tempera paint to mix and produce all of these colors.  The results are quite impressive! Feel free to come check out our color wheel this week!
