The Digraph Wh

We had a busy Monday back in Room 203. We started the day with Reader's Workshop and learning about the digraph "Wh." We read "A Whistle for Willie" and used crayons, glue, and pasta wagon wheels to make the tactile page "Wheels on 'Wh' on a Whistle." Later we read "Down on the Farm" for shared reading and learned our new sight words (said, if, some, have, there), recited our new poem ("Oh Where, Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone?"), and worked on sounding out nonsense words together. We even snuck in a practice of a couple of Three Piggy Opera songs. After snack and recess, we wrote in our kindergarten journals about insects and shared what we did over the weekend.

After lunch, we had math. We worked on counting tens and ones. We made numbers and found the tens an ones digits with a partner. We also found and made ten cubes to practice finding ten. For Star of the Week, we introduced Sa'Daree. She shared her cool poster and took questions from the class. We ended the day in Spanish and P.E. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.

Be sure to look over homework packets. They include our last book order forms for the school year. Also, remember that the ABC Countdown continues this week, and Animal Research Reports are due Tuesday, May 22. Let's have a great week!
