Cows and The Three Piggy Opera
We had a busy Wednesday in Room 203. We spent our morning in Reader's Workshop, as well as learning about cows. We read "The Milk Makers" and identified different foods that are made from milk. We also read "Oh! The Places You'll Go!" by Dr. Seuss because it was "O is for Oh! The Places You'll Go!" Day. At Writer's Workshop, we made opinion writing telling what our favorite place to go is and giving reasons why. After snack and recess, we ended the morning in Spanish.
After lunch, we rehearsed for the Three Piggy Opera. It was our first practice with the other kindergartens, so we learned where we sit, stand, sing, be quiet, and use the microphone. We will practice a few more times before next Wednesday's show. As if that weren't enough excitement, we had a tornado drill when we got back to the room. Then we talked about Having Fun With Our Friends in Second Step and put it to practice by going out and playing outside. We ended the day with Star of the Week. Wai Zin read "Peppa Pig and the Camping Trip" to the class. She did a great job! Then we packed up and headed for home.
Oh, we now have six butterflies. We have been observing them and feeding them oranges in our butterfly pavillion. We will set them free tomorrow because they really want to spread their wings and fly!
