The Letter X

We had a good Monday on Room 203. We began our day by collecting Friday Folders and taking care of our morning activities. They include: sorting our lunches, the Pledge and BeyeLaws, updating our calendar, our poem of the week, the alphabet song, the vowel song, the phonetic alphabet, and morning exercises. We read "My 'X, Y, Z' Book" and came up with a few "X" words. They may be hard to come by this week, so feel free to include any word with an "X" in it. We used a white crayon, water, and watercolors to make the tactile page "X is for X-ray." They look cool! We started a new round of Road to Reading before worked on neat "X" handwriting and sentences. After snack and recess, we had Art. Ms. Sundquist had the class continue making their skylines. They look great!

After lunch, we learned our new sight words and recited our new poem "Baa, Baa, Black Sheep." We also took a math sprint. In Music, we practiced for the "Three Piggy Opera" with Mrs. Hansen. When we got back to the room, we talked about the five senses. We reviewed them before conducting a hearing experiment. Mr. Ricker used different items to make a sound while the class tried to identify that sound. We did pretty well!  We also read a book on hearing before matching items that we can see and those we can hear. For Star of the Week, we introduced Marin. She shared her awesome poster and took questions from the class. We ended the day in the Computer Lab working on LexiaCore5 games. Keep challenging yourself at home! Then we packed up, passed out homework folders, and lined up for home.

Be sure to check over homework packet for the week. They include a field trip permission slip and a book order for April. Let's have a great week!
