The Letter J

We had busy Monday in Room 203. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and taking care of our morning activities, which included sorting lunches, the Pledge and BeyeLaws, calendar, our new poem, the alphabet song, the vowel song, the phonetic alphabet, and morning exercises. After some "J" handwriting, we had Road to Reading. When we returned, we read "My 'J' Book" and brainstormed some "J" words. We also tried to write sentences with a  "J" word. Finally, we used crayons, glue, and plastic jewels to create the tactile page "Jewels on 'J's on a Jellybean." They look cool! After snack and recess, we had Art. Ms. Sundquist led a lesson on Mondrian. The class made lines and shapes. Next week they will use primary colors to finish their pictures.

After lunch, we recited our new poem "Diddle, Diddle, Dumpling" and reviewed phonics skills. In Music, Mrs. Hanson had the class work on fast and slow and keeping a steady beat. For math, we worked on counting and making ten. We also got to spend some time in the Computer Lab playing LexiaCore5 learning games. We ended the day talking about trees. We reviewed their parts and made a picture of a tree. Then we packed up homework and lined up for home. Let's have a great week!

Be sure to check over homework folders for the week. Book orders are due Friday if you're interested. And remember that Ethnicity Doll projects are due the Wednesday after Thanksgiving on November 30th.
