More Colorful Fish

We had a nice Wednesday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning activities. I was also surprised with the largest fruit basket I have ever seen!  Thank you so much!  Next, we read the book "Clumsy Crab." At language arts rotations, students made colorful fish using crayon scrapings, wax paper, and an iron. Of course, Charis' mom and Moses' mom helped with that last part. They look cool! My groups read "Bug in a Web" and worked on Mother's Day cards. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We worked on finding, identifying, and drawing cylinders and cones.

After recess, we reviewed sight words, recited "Rock-A-Bye Baby," and practiced some phonics skills. Then we read "Rainbow Fish and the Sea Monster's Cave." We also fished our mini-books from earlier in the week. We wrote sentences to match the pictures from the original "Rainbow Fish" story. Many were very good! For Star of the Week, Stella brought in two books. She read "Biscuit" to the class and will share her favorite book, "Stellaluna," tomorrow.  At P.E., Coach Angel had the class play "Toss and Catch." This time he had students use cones to catch. We ended the day in the library. Mrs. Singh let us check out books (this may be our last week to do so), and then read "A Good Day" by Kevin Henkes. Then we put up our chairs, packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
