Week Twenty-One

We had a short week in Room 104.  We  did some BAS testing, learned more about rocks, and started borrowing while subtraction.

Our ELA Block included new spelling lists and more cursive writing. In RUOS, we spent our week reading more non-fiction text, identifying main ideas, vocabulary, and author's purpose. In WUOS, we finished writing our lab reports. We read about dinosaurs and are beginning research for our dinosaur reports. We also looked at contraction in language.

In our afternoon block, we spent the week looking at "Pebbles, Sand, and Silt. We learned where igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks come from, and looked at the rock cycle. We also took a short quiz on what we've learned so far.  In math, we continued module 4 on Addition and Subtraction Within 200. We reviewed strategies to subtract. We continue using the vertical form and borrowing correctly.

We also had our specials. We missed Art with Ms. Sundquist because of the Dr. King holiday, but we had a lot of fun singing and playing games in Music with Ms. Altshuler. We learned more about our community in Spanish with Sra. Colmenero. We read a story and checked out books with Mr. Withers in the library, and we played some fun games in P.E. with Mr. Simatic. We also met with our book buddies in Mr. Manus' class and played some math games on iPads. Fun!

Next week will include a field trip, the book fair, and parent/teacher conferences. Stay warm!
